The challenge of the design is best described with its layers of solutions. Our approach is best understood in section, where all its levels can be seen. Each addition is situated in relation to the existing monument, one below (The Patio), one lies low (The Entrance Pavilion) and one floats above (The Residence). The design approach objective is to provide space for the existing volume, the monument to stand alone within its surrounding landscape (Object in the landscape) and be the focal point of the site. Therefore, in order to maintain the integrity of the monument and its surrounding landscape, each addition has its unique modest site approach and integration.
